Archive/Improv:  New Photographs at New York Public Library Mid-Manhattan.  Curated by Arezoo Moseni.

On view from September 20, 2016- February 15, 2017.  Artist dialogue with Matthew Deleget on December 3rd.

As a long time devotee of the 3rd floor art stacks and the Picture Collection at the mid-manhattan branch of NYPL it was with great pleasure that I accepted an invitation to create a new series of images to be exhibited in that space.  I decided to make images that contemplate the current status of photography and the photograph as a physical object.  I've long been fascinated with archives, libraries and collections.  The new images are meditations on the weird contradiction between the ephemerality of the fragile photograph and it's status as an object which can assert itself forcefully. For more information on the exhibit and the public artist dialogue, please visit the NYPL web site.

Our public libraries are an amazing resource, providing an incredible range of events and services and a refuge for the life of the mind.  In this age of distraction we could all benefit from some quality time at the library.
